– The English Conversation Program consists of three levels. During these courses, learners participate in listening and speaking tasks which are intended to improve their communication skills.
– The courses focus on improving the learners’ listening and speaking skills.
– They listen to a variety of texts including conversations, speeches, announcements, debates and negotiations in various contexts, listening for details and for main ideas.
– They also practice dialogues, role plays and give presentations related to a variety of topics.
– There is more focus on stress and intonation to enhance their pronunciation skills.The topics discussed in class are varied and range from the simple to the complex.Real-time activities are provided throughout each level of the conversation courses.
– The classroom environment provides real time contexts for students to practice and interact in English throughout each level.
The purpose of these learner-centered conversational courses is to improve the learner’s ability to speak in English and to communicate efficiently in an English speaking context. In this class, learners will be provided with ample authentic listening comprehension segments that will enhance their listening skills to allow them to speak comfortably and transfer their knowledge to real life situations. Attention will be given to pronunciation, stress and intonation and learner’s vocabulary repertoire will be expanded by the presentation and use of vocabulary words related to every lesson.

The main goal of this course is to help you improve your spoken English skills to enable you to communicate more effectively in English.Native English speaker proficiency and expression are not expected of OEPP students. The general expectation for certification is the ability to communicate in English without great effort or misunderstanding for all parties involved. Our goal is to assist the student in developing skills in the goal areas (intelligibility, vocabulary, grammar, presentation and interactive communication) so that any deficiencies in skill or practice do not interfere with communication.

5.1 ( Level I ) Intensive conversation course at the elementary stage:
5.1.1 About the Course:
Intensive conversation course at the Elementary stage with special practice and focus on phonology (pronunciation, stress and intonation); listening skills (extensive and intensive); and on sustaining very short conversations using the language functionally; practicing everyday English through real life situations and workplace-oriented communicative English.
5.1.2 LEARNING OUTCOMES:
¨ Extract general information from short reading and listening texts.
¨ Pronounce sounds and sound dusters meaning fully.
¨ Use questions and answers through short exchanges.
¨ Produce elementary level linguistic and lexical accuracy.
¨ Exchange simple information through short dialogs.
¨ Ask and answer questions appropriate to workplace oriented situations.
5.1.3 You’ll be able to:
A ) Introduce yourself .
B ) Describe People .
C ) Make a first impression for interviews in general.
5.2 ( Level II ) Intensive conversation practice and discussion course Intermediate:
5.2.1 About the Course:
Intensive conversation practice and discussion course at the Intermediate stage with special practice and focus on phonology (pronunciation, stress and intonation); listening skills (extensive and intensive); and sustaining short & average conversations using the language functionally; practicing everyday English through real life situations and workplace-oriented communicative English while stressing on fluency and accuracy. The course content is partly student generated and targets increasing the students’ communicative abilities and awareness of social cultural differences.
5.2.2 LEARNING OUTCOMES:
¨ Participate in casual conversation.
¨ Generate face to face speech delivered at normal rate with some repetition.
¨ Discuss controversial topics.
¨ Extract main ideas provided through aural and oral exchanges.
¨ Identify a variety of English-based interaction through different social settings.
¨ Point out cross-cultural misunderstandings to improve communication.
5.2.3 You’ll be able to:
A ) Pass situations .
B ) How to deal with people in different situation and culture .
C ) Make a complete Interview for work.
5.3 ( Level III ) Intensive conversation course at the advanced stage:
5.3.1 About the Course:
intensive conversation course at the advanced stage with practice and focus on phonology (pronunciation, stress and intonation) and listening skills (extensive and intensive); sustaining lengthy exchanges; debating controversial topics; using the language functionally through real-life situations and workplace-oriented communicative English; becoming aware of social/cultural differences.
Also the third conversation level at the Advanced Stage represents highly intensive practice of the English language listening and speaking skills through functionally based instruction.
The students listen to a variety of listening materials and discuss controversial topics that relate to current events; maintain long conversations; discuss high-tech developments; talk about issues; debate over changes and discuss a variety of cultures.
The course content is partly student generated but targets bringing in real-life situations and debates inside the classroom setting.
5.3.2 LEARNING OUTCOMES:
¨ Use different styles of spoken English shoring levels of fluency.
¨ Point out strengths and weaknesses of ideas during discussions/debates.
¨ Justify own opinions during discussions of controversial issues.
¨ Produce high level of fluency when talking about a variety of topics.
¨ Present high level of linguistic competency and lexical accuracy during presentations.
¨ Deduce speaker’s intention and respond to it accurately.
5.3.3 You’ll be able to:
A ) Discuss issues ( Political , Economy , Social etc ,…. ) .
B ) Make presentation for your plan .
C ) Write an entire essay and Topics .
24 Credit Hours per level:
– One Lecture per week ( 6 Weeks ).
– Two Lectures per week ( 4 Weeks ).
